Door Edge Chips
When ever you open your car door you run the risk of it hitting another object such as a wall or another car. with car parking spots getting every increasingly smaller and cars increasing in size its almost inevitable that at some point you are likely to chip paint of your door edge whether its an accident or not.
even though the damage is small and seemingly inconspicuous over time it will gradually get worse for its in an exposed area and there fore vulnerable to the elements. if left and not treated rust would set in or paint may start flaking depending on the severity of the damage.
one thing you don't want to happen is the chips to get worse for the costs of the repairs go up as a result. Its much more economical to get the door chip repaired sooner rather than later for as little as £55 you can fix the problem in a matter of hours. If left the repair cost can spiral out of control and reach into the hundreds.
There are two main repair techniques that can be used Spray or Touch In.
A spray job requires the effected area rubbed back, filled and sprayed. This type of repair is completely invisible.
A Touch in is where the door chip is touched prepped sealed then touched in. Its cheaper than a respray but results do vary on the size of the chip. From a passing glance you wouldn't notice the repair but from closer inspection you much see slight imperfections in the paintwork. this technique is ideal if you are selling a car.
So the moral of this story is to fix the damage sooner rather than later if you want to save money.
