Does Cold Weather Effect Smart Repairs?
We get asked every year as if by clockwork from our customers whether the cold conditions of winter are a problem for us. Well there's not a yes or a no answer to that one I'm afraid, sometimes it can be a pain and sometimes it's not.
Most of our customers just get concerned that we wouldn't be able to carry out their smart repair in the harsh winter conditions and as a result there is always a rush of jobs that come through in mid to late October and again when the weather improves in spring. Well to all our customers we can and do carry out jobs in the cold, wet, windy and snowy conditions of winter.
The coldest it's been for us while carrying out a job has been -4 degrees, that was in early April in a freakishly cold spring morning a few years back. It was so cold that the water in our bucket just kept freezing over and any water run of just froze on the spot. Even when it's been this bad we have still managed to get the job done.
We were in Watford Hertfordshire two years past when we completed a smart repair in 6inchs of snow. Thank god for those heaters of ours. It still took us over 2 hours to get home on non gritted roads.
The only real issue we have with the cold weather is that everything takes longer to dry. We use 3x1500w heaters that heat up the panel to the correct temperature for us to paint and lacquer the effected panels, so when it's cold it takes longer to get to the right conditions to paint. So it can be as cold as it likes, our heaters will still prevail.
We can even carry out jobs in the pouring rain. We have a shelter that covers half of most car lengths. The only real difficulty we have with this is that if the customer has multiple repairs around the car we can only do one at a time instead of all at once which does increase the job length.
So there you have it, if in doubt give us a call on 08000778832 and we will put your mind at rest. WE DO SMART REPAIRS IN WINTER.
